I have been making a lot of these little Spirals bracelets. They are easy and quick to make. The immediate gratification is addicting...
Of course I could not resist making some necklaces as well...
Then, for something different, I experimented with some "big hole" beads on some earrings. Still working on tweaking of the construction aspects, but I think I like them.
Still on a tear - I bought some Terra Rosa Jasper flat ovals awhile back and have been wanting to use them...I think I love the results.
As previously posted, I was accepted as a vendor for Art Squared (art market in San Marcos, Texas) for April 12th. I had a great time! Met some people, saw some great art and even made a few sales. I will try this again...probably in August as I am working hard to get ready for Kerrville Folk Festival in May/June and will need time to recuperate afterwards.
Yesterday, I entered 3 pieces (see photos below) in Fire Mountain Gems "Seed Bead Contest". Wish me luck!
I am loving my newly arranged work area. It was too windy to go outside to take photos today so I needed to do it inside. I think I am working out the lighting in my new set-up...although I will continue to tweak that until I get it where I like it.
I intended to make a few StarBurst sets (necklace & earrings). So, I started with this necklace but, halfway through I realized I had made a mistake. I painstakingly took it all out and started over only to discover I had made another mistake requriing another careful take-out. Finally, I finished the necklace. Then, on to the earrings. I happily finished one and started the other. Got finished with the the second earring only to discover I had made a mistake on the first one! Since I had already tied it off and trimmed the cords...I had to cut it up and start all over. I got the message - it was time to move on to some other designs.
So, then I made a bunch of Basic Angle Cubed bracelets (Basic Angle with only 4 strands of cord and those cute little cube beads). I had made the first bracelet some time ago and have been meaning to make more. Since several people have been attracted to it at market, I figured now was the time. I had so much fun with these, I just could not stop...
Lastly, for variety, I decided to make some Flower bracelets. The first one shown is one I did some time back. For the ones I made this week, I tweaked the design a bit and I think I like the results. What do you think? I have made 3 so far and have one more started.
I am having way too much fun these days! But I must set aside my beads for a few hours and work on my display for tomorrow's market.
Yesterday was Market Day. It was a glorious sunny day with a bit of gusty breeziness. I sold a few pieces and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I met a lovely lady (from Kruse Art) who does some nice wire work jewelry among other things. We were having a nice chat, but had to cut it short as the market was getting busy and I had to return to my booth. When I got home, we connected on facebook and she told me about a monthly art market in San Marcos - Art Squared (facebook page) and suggested I apply. I have contacted them and am awaiting my application.
So, I am feeling optimistic and excited about all the possibilities...what with the Saturday (farmer's and artisan's) Market, Kerrville Folk Festival, and now Art Squared (art market). I better get busy making more jewelry!
I still have not been able to get the lighting (for photography) right in my new work area, so I just went outside today. It was a lovely morning - 73 degrees - and I stood barefoot on damp earth (from yesterday's rain), and there were some gorgeous cardinals in the trees...so who cares about getting the lighting right in my work area when I can just go outside and enjoy it even more?
First of all, I made this necklace to go with a dress I bought myself for my birthday (next month). I plan on making earrings, bracelet and some barefoot sandals to go with it. I am calling this "Frilly Diamonds" as it is basically the Diamonds scheme with fringe beads (giving it a "frilly" look). By the way, I am loving the "S" hooks shown in last photo.
Then i made some "Frilly Diamonds" earrings - in a different color palette.
Then, I made the Basic Diamonds Jewelry Set (first 8 photos) and love the palette so much, I made an "abbreviated" StarBurst set (last 4 photos)
Last, but certainly not least, I made a "Frilly Diamonds" necklace and some earrings (yes, I plan on making a bracelet to go with them). I really like this color palette, too! I think I have been having too much fun...but I have no plans to stop!
I have now officially joined this market! I love the people - the vendors and the customers. Everyone is so friendly.
I plan to set up every Saturday until Kerrville Folk Festival (last 2 weekends in May and the 1st weekend in June). Then, perhaps I will set up twice a month after that...until the Holiday Season...we will see.
Below are some more photos of my booth/display and some of the market itselt, including one of Seth (one of my favorite farmers) singing for us. I do so enjoy this market!
I have been going through a number of changes in this new year. I have even become a morning person! Me! The proverbial night owl. I don't know how it happened, but for the first time in my life, I am a morning person. Oh sure, I have had jobs that required me to get up in the morning, but that did not make me into a morning person...yeah, I got up every morning of course, but with plenty of grumbling and growling (I am not kidding, just ask my mother)!
Along with the change in my sleep schedule, I have some renewed motivation and have been rearranging my home in order to expand my work-area. I finally got the basic arrangement finished a few days ago and I love it. Of course, I still have the finishing touches to work on over the next few weeks...
Also among the changes, was the regrettable closing of our local farmer's and artisan's market. I had been setting up with them for the past couple of years, but business became so slow that the farmers just could not make enough to continue. I sure miss them, they were a great group of farmers. But on a positive note, one of the farmers referred me to Saturday Market in the next town over. It is a larger market (in a larger town). The problem in the past (for me) was that it was a morning market. Now that I am a morning person, this was no longer a problem. Last Saturday, I gave it a try. It was great! I got to see one of my favorite farmers and I sold several pieces of jewelry. I think I will join this market.
Yet another change...my husband is now fully retired and on a fixed income. If I don't want to get a "real job", I must increase the income from my jewelry. So I applied to the Kerrville Folk Festival with a friend (Soapmarked) who makes soap. We are so excited to receive our acceptance notice a few days ago! I have always wanted to go to this festival - it is legendary here in Texas and has quite a following. Besides the great music, there is a craft village and I hear tell it is also quite popular. I think my jewelry will fit right in.
So, I am getting busy making jewelry! Since I sold the last two StarBurst Necklaces at market last week, I started wtih some more of those. I aplogize if the photos are not quite up to par, but I am still working on my photo-taking set-up (in the new work-area arrangement). I am hoping I can solve that next week - Today, I am busy getting ready for market tomorrow. At any rate, I wanted to at least get some photos taken today just in case they get bought at tomorrow's market. Next week, I will list any that did not sell.

I was recently contacted by a customer who reported that she had tried to order a pattern but shipping charges were added during checkout. This was definitely an error. There should never be any shipping charges added to any of my patterns.
I am grateful that customer contacted me instead of giving up! It made me aware of the problem so I could fix it and I was able to refer her to my other online shops so she could procure the pattern she wanted without having to wait.
I could not figure out why that happened, although I was able to reproduce the error when I tested the checkout process. I was still recovering from a nasty cold at the time and so I deactivated that listing until I felt well enough to fix it (the others I tested seemed to be functioning properly).
I reactivated that listing and tested it again today (along with some others just to be sure). It seems to be functioning properly today, as do the others I tested. I am assuming it was just a glitch in the system.
I will keep an eye on it myself, but I also greatly appreciate being contacted when someone encounters a problem on my site.
I have reduced the price of the Spiral Hoop Earring kits (both styles) and moved them over here from Etsy (where the listings had expired). Available in 4 colors for the earrings with a drop and in 3 colors for the triangular ones. Enjoy!
