Recently at the Micro Macrame Group on Facebook, someone uploaded a full pdf copy of my Fans Bracelet Pattern.  When I asked that she take it down, she apologized and reported that she had found it on some website (offered for free) and she understandably thought it was a "free to share" document.

Wow.  I don't know why I was surprised.  After all, people post copies of books, music, etc...but my little pattern?  I mean, I do not charge much for my patterns and I am just a single artist trying to make a living on my work.

I understand that people will probably share a copy with a few close friends, but please do not share my patterns with the public!  I am very happy to have people review my work and link to my website - that is networking!  And, I don't mind people sharing my free patterns (Spirals Anklet/Bracelet & Spirals Key Chain) as long as they leave the front page in (with copyright information).

I am making an offer:  If you find one of my patterns (except for the free ones) posted (for free or for sale) anywhere online (except of course at my sites), Let me know and I will reward you with a free pattern (your choice of my available patterns).

Thanks to a customer asking a question, I found a typo in Fans Necklace and Earrings Pattern.

Correction as follows:

Previous version:
Step 6: (photos 2 & 3) Now turn work surface around so that the unfinished end is pointing to the left.
Make LHKs with cords 6 and 7. Make 2 LHKs with cord 8.

Should read:
Step 6: (photos 2 & 3) Now turn work surface around so that the unfinished end is pointing to the left.
Make LHKs with cords 5, 6 and 7. Make 2 LHKs with cord 8.

I have corrected the original and made a new pdf.

Again, thanks to the customer who asked a question.

I have finally finished revising the Serpentine Bracelet Pattern!  Same great bracelet and same great photos, just re-formatted to save space and re-written for clarity.

Find pattern at any of my online shops (see link in sidebar for shopping links)

A few days ago, I got an email from a customer telling me that she had seen my photos on a Russian site without any mention of KnotGypsy Designs.  I went to the link she provided and found that someone had photographed the steps for a bracelet very much like my Serpentine Bracelet with a different closure and different beading.  At the bottom of this person's instructions were posted photo above and 2 more of my photos as examples without giving credit to KnotGypsy.  I contacted the webmaster who was very helpful and polite - He immediately included links to my site (apparently, the website is one where users post content and the webmaster did not know the photos were mine).

Today, I got another email from yet another customer who tells me that my photos have shown up on Pinterest but linking to yet another Russian site.  This second website seems to be reposting the article found on the first site and provides a link to that first site at the bottom of the page.  This second site's poster and the Pinterest pinner probably don't even know the photos are really mine.

I just want to say for the record:  Changing the design and making your own photographs for a tutorial is well within your rights.  However, if you wish to use my photographs as examples of micro macrame, I request you link back to my website and give me credit for my work (for both the bracelets and the photos).

Anyone finding improper use of my work can feel free to comment on those posts and/or contact me.

I have added a Part 2 to Basic Angle Bracelet Pattern!  It includes 2 more beading schemes, how to do the button closure, and how to reverse the direction of the knots for a "New Angle" look.  (Yes, for those of you who remember the New Angle Bracelet, it has been incorporated into the Basic Angle Bracelet pattern.)  The updated version now available in all 3 of my online shops (see sidebar for links).

For those of you who have previously purchased Basic Angle Bracelet Pattern and want Part 2 (for $2.00) without having to buy the whole thing over again, contact me and I will make arrangements for you.  However, part 2 depends on some information in part 1 and so you really need part 1 to go with it.  Which is why I have not offered part 2 separately in my shops.  I hope this makes s

I have finished another pattern - Mosaic Fans Bracelet with Button Closure.  Based on my classic Fans Bracelet, this pattern includes 2 new ways to bead it and how to do a button closure.  It is listed at all 3 of my online shops (see sidebar for links).  Enjoy!

I am also working on putting together some pattern packages.  I have already gotten some listed at my Etsy shop and will be working over the next few days to get them listed at my other two shops as well.

I had hoped to have this pattern finished CyberMonday ( the Monday after Thanksgiving) - I feared I would get caught up in the Holidays and not be able to get back to it until afterwards.  Well, I got sick the weekend after Thanksgiving and did not get the pattern finished by CyberMonday and indeed I did get caught up in the Holiday Festivities.

But right after New Year's, I got back to work and the pattern is finally finished.  I have listed it in all 3 of my shops (see "Shop for Jewelry, Patterns, Kits" in sidebar for links to my shops).  Enjoy!

It was recently brought to my attention that there were some typographical errors in the Casual Diamonds Bracelet Pattern.  So if you have purchased this pattern, please be advised of the following corrections:

Step 12: (photo 9) Repeat step 3. - Should read "Repeat step 10".

Step 13: (photo 10) Repeat step 4. - Should read "Repeat step 11".

Step 14:  ...Bring cord 5 back across to the right and pin its end to the bottom right of work surface. It will be HC in step 3 below. - Should read "It will be HC in step 16 below"

I have corrected my original copy.  If anyone has any further questions, please contact me (see "Contact" in sidebar).

I have also finished the pattern for my Spirals Lariat Necklace - by popular demand (I have received several requests for the instructions for this necklace).

It is already listed in all 3 of my online shops (see "Shop for Jewelry, Patterns, Kits" in sidebar for links to my shops).

I do plan on putting together some kits for this pattern, but it may take awhile as I have kits to make up for other patterns, and other patterns to write.

Question:  The pattern calls for C-lon bead cord, but I usually use the Omega nylon crochet thread for this necklace as it gives a drapier look and feel.  The problem is that the Omega is challenging to work with as it is not a bonded cord, but actually a thread that can become unraveled.  I do discuss this in "Tips and Terminology" (in The Basics - see free downloads in sidebar for your copy).  However, I am reluctant to make kits with the Omega unless you guys are up for a challenge.  Although, I do pre-treat the ends of the cord for the kit myself which does make it easier for you...What do you think?  Should I make a couple of kits up with the Omega (making sure to label them "challenging")?  Please leave your answers in the comments below.  I always appreciate the feedback I get from my readers/customers.

Since putting my book on hold, I feel so freed up.  As previously posted, I finished the pattern for Gridlock Bracelet A and now I have finished the updated version of my "Waves" bracelet - now called "New Waves".  In addition to my original beading scheme, I have included a scheme with gemstone chips and I have included instructions for an updated clasp and a button closure.  Enjoy!  Find this pattern listed at all my online shops (see "Shop for Jewelry, Patterns, Kits" in sidebar).

I have a small stock of gemstone chips and plan on putting together some kits for that version of the bracelet...soon.

I have some kits previously listed for the original "Waves" bracelet, but the kit will work with either version (you will just have some 6mm beads left over (from the tassel) if using the new version.  I think that I will just include both versions of the pattern with every one of those kits.

Still trying to decide whether or not to leave the original version up for sale, or retire it.  please let me know if you have a wish to see it remain along with the new version.
